Flat tire? Stay where you are.

Flats changed, spares put on, tires rotated and worn ones replaced, wherever the vehicle is sitting and at any hour. Call from the driveway or from the shoulder.

What we handle on site

  • Flat tires. We get the flat off and the spare on, and get you rolling again.
  • Lug nuts that will not move. Hammered on by an impact gun at the last shop, and nothing in your trunk will budge them. We carry the tools that will.
  • Rotations. Front to back on schedule, so all four wear out together instead of two at a time.
  • Tire replacement. Worn out, dry-rotted or damaged past saving. Tell us the size on the sidewall and what you drive, and we will sort out getting new ones on it without you sitting in a waiting room.
  • Finding out why they wore out. Tires worn on one edge are a suspension or steering problem, and new tires alone will not fix it.

How to tell a tire is done

  • The penny test. Put a penny in the tread with Lincoln's head pointing down. If you can see all of his head, the tread is worn out.
  • A bubble in the sidewall. The inside of the tire has failed and only the outer rubber is holding air. Do not drive on it at speed. Replace it.
  • Cracks in the sidewall. Dry rot from sun and heat, common on anything that sits outside here most of the year.
  • Age. The four-digit code after DOT on the sidewall is the week and year it was made. Past six years it is worth having them looked at, and around ten they are done no matter how much tread is left.

Vehicles that sit are the hardest on tires. One parked at a beach condo for months flat-spots and dry-rots without ever wearing its tread, which is why a tire can look nearly new and still be unsafe.

The spare is the tire nobody checks

A spare loses air for years without anybody looking at it. Plenty of people find out theirs is flat at the same moment they find out they need it.

The small temporary spare is built to get you to a repair, not to live on. Most are limited to 50 miles an hour and a short distance, and the limit is printed right on the sidewall. A lot of newer cars skip the spare completely and give you a can of sealant and a small pump instead.

If you are stuck on the side of 501 or Highway 17 with traffic passing, get as far off the road as you can, put the hazards on, and call. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Common questions

Questions we get asked.

Do you come out for a flat in the middle of the night?
Yes. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell us where you are and what you are driving, and we will tell you straight how fast we can be there.
Can you get lug nuts off when I cannot?
Usually, yes. Lug nuts put on with an impact gun are often far tighter than the factory wrench can handle. We bring the tools for it.
Do I have to replace all four tires at once?
Not always. On most two-wheel-drive vehicles a matched pair is fine. All-wheel-drive vehicles are pickier, because a big difference in tread depth between tires can strain the drivetrain, and many of them call for all four to match.
How often should tires be rotated?
Most vehicle makers call for every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, which lines up with an oil change on a lot of vehicles. We can do both in the same visit.
